Two Arrested for Possession of Marijuana in Marshall
Marshall police responding to a Love's Truck Stop incident arrested a 23 year old from Illinois for disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana after a passenger urinated on a bag aboard a Greyhound bus. Another arrest followed a traffic stop on I-94 near Portello Road where a 49 year old Idaho driver admitted marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia use related to methamphetamine. both suspects held at Calhoun County Jail.

Marshall officers responded to a report of a three year old wandering alone on West Michigan Avenue around 9 30 am on January 6. They escorted the child home and found he had left his mother and her boyfriend unaware he was gone.

Tragic 9 year old dies in Emmett Township house fire
A January 10 residential blaze at 611 Westbrook Ave in Emmett Township killed 9 year old Brettlyn Reach. Her mother Me linda Girdham age 44 and her boyfriend James Sparks 43 were treated for burns and smoke inhalation. Two firefighters were also treated. Officials say cause is under investigation with Michigan State Police Fire Marshal Division. Fire departments from Emmett Two Pennfield Bedford and Battle Creek assisted.

Man Arrested After Credit Card Fraud Incident
At about 11 15 p m officers responded to 300 block of E Michigan Ave for a possible credit card fraud. Suspects attempted to use a declined card and officers located the suspect vehicle. After speaking with the driver and occupants, investigators found fraudulent credit cards. A 26 year old Detroit man was arrested and jailed on five counts of possession of fraudulent transaction devices.

Suspect may face charges for writing bad checks
Marshall Police filed a warrant request for bad checks totaling 128 dollars written by a 38 year old suspect to a business on West Michigan Avenue. The incident is under investigation by the Marshall City Attorney's Office. A separate domestic dispute involved a 31 year old woman and a 27 year old man. the man was arrested on felony assault with a weapon charges after threatening the woman and her cat with a knife. The woman was not injured.
