Marshall appoints James Schwartz as new police chief
James Schwartz, 48, will lead Marshall after 18 months without a chief following Mike Olson's departure in February 2008. He accepted the offer after second interviews August 12 and 13 and aims to begin September 8 pending background checks. Schwartz cites 36 years in law enforcement, a focus on transparency, community presence, and advancing department technology.
