James Schwartz, deputy police chief of the Adrian Police Department, was hired as Marshall’s new police chief after an offer on August 13 and acceptance on August 17. He begins Sept. 8. The city council capped electric rates at 8.5 cents per kilowatt hour, drawing from the rate stabilization fund to keep bills stable.

Kid's Day Draws Large Crowd at Calhoun County Fair
An estimated 28 000 people including kids parents and families filled the Calhoun County Fair Tuesday for Kid's Day events such as frog jumping, a Ronald McDonald magic show and the annual bike giveaway.
