Marshall City Council approves utility rate changes
Marshall residents, businesses, and industrial customers will see lower electric rates starting May 1 after the city paid off the Litchfield plant debt. The change yields an estimated monthly drop of 6.97 for residential, 111.84 for commercial, and 1,508 for industrial customers, while water and sewer rates rise over three years to cover city needs and offset the electric decrease. The council also reviewed library millage funds, outdoor café licenses, and planning services for the Hospital Overlay Growth District, with a 5-1 vote on the planning contract and discussion of cost-sharing with Oaklawn Hospital.
