Dispatchers honored for aiding missing man. Athens chief remembered
At the April 12 Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch Authority meeting, seven dispatchers were recognized for locating an elderly Marshall man who vanished on December 9 after his wife notified 911. Jaimee Owen and Kathie Powers received certificates, with others thanked later. The board also honored late Athens Fire Chief Tom Hardy, who died from on‑the‑job head trauma, noting his 17 years of service and leadership from 1998 to 2010 and his role in forming the 911 authority. A shadow box will be placed in the Calhoun County Building lobby.
