Hazardous Waste Collection Day in Calhoun County
Calhoun County Public Health Department hosts a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day for residents on Saturday April 30 from 10 a.m. to noon in Marshall at the County Building parking lot on South Grand Street. Accepts items such as batteries pesticides solvents and paints. latex paint must be dried and disposed with regular trash. Large loads require prior approval. Brooks Nature Area Celebrates Fifth Anniversary Park Birthday
Brooks Nature Area marks five years as a Marshall City park on April 17. The 189 acre site features 2 1/2 miles of marked trails through prairie woods and Stuart Lake shores, 80 plus acres of restored native prairie, trail markers, benches, display boards, and over 40 bird houses with much volunteer effort. The park opens daily from dawn to dusk and will have more improvements underway in 2011 as spring awakens wildlife and vegetation.
