The third district of Nevada Federated Clubs met in Minden October 14 16 with six state officers and 54 delegates. Mrs J S Wilson elected district president. discussions covered thrift budget law school consolidation teacher pay kindergarten work and Mother’s Club activities plus poetry readings and a Christmas Eve poem by Edward Comerford with musical solos.

Nevada School Census Shows Substantial Gain
The Carson News reports Nevada’s school census rose from 9 075 in 1900 to 12 443 in 1910 and 14 485 in 1920, a gain of 2 042 or about 16 ½ percent over the decade. Despite the census rise, the state’s total population declined by about 4 or 5 percent from 1910 to 1920.

Juror Attempts Suicide at Carson Federal Building
Schacht, a Dayton resident and stage line operator with his brother between Dayton and Virginia City, tried to kill himself Monday at the Carson federal building with a pocket knife. Fire alarm saves town from major blaze at Kash and Karry
Last Wednesday night a blaze threatened Yerington with Chief Kelly and his crew responding. The smoke filled the Kash and Karry store and a defective flue is blamed for the fire. Damage nears $1,000 and was insured with underwriters settling claims after their Sunday arrival.

Mrs Currie of Elite Millinery was badly burned last Monday when cleaning a dress with gasoline. She rubbed the fluid between hands causing ignition. She wrapped the dress about her and rolled on the ground to extinguish the flames. One arm severely burned and dress ruined.

Passing of Mag Ruel Lothrop
The Times notes the death of Mrs. Ruel Lothrop in St. Mary's Hospital Reno after a long illness. Born in Silver City Nevada 38 years ago she married Ruel Lothrop county assessor in June 1903. Survived by husband son and extended family, the funeral at Silver City Catholic church drew many friends from Carson City Dayton Virginia Reno and Yerington.
