Annual Conclave of Women’s Clubs in Nevada District Schedule
The Nevada Federation of Women’s Clubs met in Elko to divide into three districts with biennial meetings and announced the first annual convention program for District No 3 in Minden October 14 16 including openings by Mrs Georgie B Dangberg and Mrs J E Church. Sheriff T J Hurley reported the death of Morris Gelligher of Belmont California a former Comstock resident noted for his work at the Yellow Jacket and Lucky Boy mines.

Attractive Highway Near Walker Lake
State highway engineer C Cottrell says the west side route by Walker Lake will be one of the state’s most attractive roads. The project, costing 166000 dollars, is about one third done and on track for completion around January 1. Two miles lie in solid rock. the road will link Reno with southern Nevada and remove the Lucky Boy grade. About 65 men from Nevada Construction Co of Fallon are at work using a steam shovel and air compressors.

Curfew Question Prompts City Council Action in Yerington
A women’s club and a parents teachers group urged strict curfew enforcement by the Yerington City Council. They asked to curb Sunday dancing and late Saturday dances, noting no law bans Sunday dancing. Police will seek dance hall cooperation to curb curfew violations by parents permitting youths under 16 on streets after curfew.

Plaintiffs Win Big Damage Suit Against Douglas Milling
After a 12 day trial in Douglas county, Dora Rickey and daughters won a unanimous verdict of 15303 dollars against Douglas Milling and Power Company. The suit stemmed from the electrocution of Mrs Rickey’s husband near the mill last year by improperly insulated high voltage wires. The case will be appealed to the state supreme court.

The Reno Chamber of Commerce launches a statewide mining information bureau to gather and classify data on lesser known minerals for prospector and investor use. Claim owners may send property descriptions and samples at no charge. inquiries from manufacturers and investors will also be filed. Yerington High Holds Kangaroo Court Dance
A freshmen class dance at Yerington High followed with a mock kangaroo court on stage. Judge in white beard and glasses, a solemn police pair, and prisoner Mr Hill faced a playful verdict. He was found guilty and sentenced to test an egg, then released after the egg cracked. Columbus Day noted with Clark J. Guild visiting Smith Valley.

Protest Against Dismantling Line For Rockland Mine

Curtis argues $34,470 in receipts against $12,227 invested, citing rebates, accounts receivable, salvage value, and a lease option to fund the mine’s debt while noting the mine cannot operate without power. The hearing, led by Commissioner Smithons, involved Canton Ohio owners and Chamber of Commerce officials. The Rockland mine, once run by Governor Blaisdell, produced gold with some silver and antimony, aided by a cyanide mill in 1917.
