Twenty four Lyon County boys enlist for war service

Twenty four youths from Lyon County answered the call and enlisted in the regular Army for the duration of the war. A public farewell at the Court House preceded their march down Main Street led by Judge Hauser, with speeches by local officials and a band. They departed by auto to Reno to board trains to San Francisco for assignment.

Sanders School Closes After Notable Year

Miss Elsie Humphrey and Miss Adele Vaillencour wrap a successful Creamery School year with a pupil play and ice cream sale that raised 25 dollars for the Junior Red Cross. Graduates Mabel Fox and John Lucas plan to attend Yerington High School. A scrapbook project funded a flag for the schoolhouse and a social dance followed a year of activity.

Silver City Pioneer Obituary for Weneel Stock Sr

Weneel Stock Sr a long time Silver City resident dies after a period of illness. He was a Bohemian born baker and early Silver City prospector who married into local life. Infant dies after fall at Thompson

Little Woodrow Wilson Poultney infant son of Mr and Mrs Poultney of Thompson died last Monday after falling from bed striking the floor on the back of his head. Hemorrhage of the brain caused death. Artesia Youths Leave With Recruiting Company

Artesia sent a group of boys with the recruiting sergeant yesterday led by Geo Mollart. The Artesia people express pride as Mollart receives gifts from friends. His parents and Mrs Tom Mollart traveled with him to Reno where he will join him for medical treatment. Alfred Baker returned Thursday from Camp Fremont and expects a few weeks at home.

Alec Braun Passes Away In 1918 Hospital Stay

W S Dyer received a letter from the Governor acknowledging Alexander T Braun late of Co B 26 Maine Infantry. Surgeon reports he was admitted March 11 1918 and died May 5 after a struggle with kidney and heart disease. care provided at the National Home for Volunteers Los Angeles.
