Meat Shop Burglarized on Yakima Avenue
Patton and Rogers meat market on Yakima avenue was broken into last Sunday night. Thieves stole $2 in change and five pails of lard from the rear cash box. Entry was gained by cutting through a rear door panel and using a key left in the lock. An attempted break in at H. J. Rand’s market nearby was interrupted by a dog’s bark and the sudden appearance of Volney Taft, forcing the intruders to flee.

Ditter and Mechtel Split Firm Renovates Store
Ditter retires from the firm of Ditter and Mechtel. Mechtel continues the business at the renovated old stand with new furnishings and added equipment including a gasoline engine for the ice cream freezer and a motor for fans. A fresh stock is now on hand. the old stock was removed and destroyed. Ditter plans a cottage on Sixth street and later a new business path.

School District 28 votes to bond for new building
Residents of district No. 28 held an election last Saturday to decide bonding for a new school house. The vote was nearly unanimous with only 5 opposed. The structure will cost $7,000, have four rooms, a basement and two stories, and measure 44 by 84 feet.
