Drilling At White Bluffs Artesian Well Abandoned
F E Deringhoff who oversaw the artesian well at White Bluffs on the Columbia reported in the city last Wednesday that the project was abandoned after reaching 210 feet without water. The basalt layer at that depth is 1000 to 3000 feet thick, and water in that formation would not rise to the surface, so operations were stopped.
