Fatal knife attack follows hotel dispute in Yakima
On July 4 between 11 and midnight Dude Minner the hotel hackman and Wesley Beeks cattle buyer clashed after Beeks followed Minner’s companion home. Minner was stabbed in the abdomen and Beeks held for arrest after a late night dispute. Minner remains hospitalized slowly recovering while Beeks awaits further action.

Horses Headed for Fall Races at State Fair
Secretary Gunn reports that John Hogan of Davenport will arrive soon with five or six horses to train for fall races. Hogan, known for fine horse stock, may have some of his stock shown during fair week. M C Gray of Pullman will display Percheron and Shire breeds to promote their adoption among northwest horsemen.

Fatal Fourth of July Accident Jumps Yakima Street
Photographer W. W. Beck died after a nervous horse reared and fell on him near Yakima avenue in First street. He passed at 1 30 Sunday, after pelvic peritonitis set in. Born in 1865 in Ottumwa Iowa, he lived in California before visiting his brother here. He left his estate to brothers C. S. Beck and F. W. Beck and was buried by Yakima lodge No. 24 after services at the Methodist church.
