Canton reports James Cornelius, a sewer contractor, killed his wife with a heavy 16 inch window weight at their South Market street home. He confessed claiming provocation by a charge of infidelity involving his wife and her 18 year old daughter Florence. The victim died hours later at Austman hospital. Cornelius is jailed, stating he is innocent of harming the girl. Police expect details of motive may never be known.
A severe typhoon in Hong Kong last night damaged shipping, sinking the German steamer Johann and the British steamship Sansung along with many smaller vessels. Reports indicate heavy loss of life, while a separate local incident describes a brutal domestic killing where a husband struck his wife and fled, later apprehended by police as neighbors recount years of abuse. The deceased’s family prepares funeral arrangements in Wooster, with services to be held at the Christian church.
Doylestown's Home Coming celebration will run Wednesday and Thursday with hundreds of former residents arriving nationwide. Speakers include Martin L. Snyser W A Ashbrook and John McSweeney. Two daily concert programs, two baseball games each day, dancing, an aeronaut, fireworks, prize races, and a grand roast ox dinner conclude the festivities.
Applecreek Sept 18 Christ Rider aged 72 died at 3 pm Tuesday from a dynamite blast while preparing to blow out stumps at the West farm near the village. He placed a fuse and was five to six feet from the charge when it exploded tearing the right leg and arm and badly burning his body. Rider had long worked in stump blowing and resided near the village. He is survived by a daughter Mrs Gandy of Barberton and two brothers Ephraim Frank and John Rider of Applecreek, along with Martin Rider of Wayne county. Interment will be in Applecreek cemetery Thursday.
Mrs Jeannette Hoelzel of Nold Avenue underwent a painful operation after months of suffering. Dr E G Rost of Cleveland determined surgery offered relief, and with Drs Rost Bart and J D Beer the operation was performed successfully. By Monday she was resting comfortably and hopeful for full recovery.
A group of farmers and others affected by recent horse thefts plan a meeting to form an association. They seek a standing reward for recovery of property and for arrest and conviction of thieves. Belief centers on an organized gang operating from Cleveland, with officers there likely to intensify efforts if rewards are offered.

Baseball game reports Wooster Pilaners led 7 7 into the ninth but the Japa pushed ahead to win 8 to 7. Stubby Clark and Pre Billiard starred for Wooster in the field while Fry delivered points for the Pilaners.
Drillers and promoters on the David Martin farm near Aukerman Station report a strong gas discovery. The vein was struck early last week, with a gas interval near 606 feet that nearly doubled output and has grown since. Worcester investors are among those interested, and more wells are planned.
