Oct 22 report from New Pittsburg lists Peter Starr and Augusta McCoy returning home after a row visit, Catherine Ockers visiting relatives at Frederickshore, the Haverstocks from Cleveland staying with Henry Haverstock, Maria of Ashland moving in, and numerous local families hosting or visiting over the Sabbath. School to begin next Monday with Char Fabr as teacher.
Misees Clara and Gertrude Porter returned Saturday from a visit at Freedom Pennsylvania. Miller Ebright and wife of Akron called on Big Prairie friends Wednesday. Wright Odell and wife of Pittsburgh visited here over Sunday. Miss Orra Gall left last week for Indiana. Services at the Baptist church next Sunday evening by Rev. Torbet of Shelby. Mrs. Shumaker and daughter Florence of Creston visited Wm Yohey and wife. G B Odell leaves this week for California for the winter. A Silas Smith party enjoyed a large gathering Saturday evening. Pie social at Leslie Aylenworth home Friday Oct 26. ladies bring a pie. Proceeds for Rising Sun church in Seneca county. Mr and Mrs C H Kline started Oct 10 to visit kin, driving via Oakland to Chicago Junction, then old home the next day. They faced a hard rain and hail, enjoyed the farm scenery, Rising Sun alive with homecoming. Klines visited Fremont, Fostoria, Shiloh and Prairie Depot. Oil and gas derricks in Seneca Wood and Hancock counties are being torn down as wells fail. Klines returned Oct 17 after a long, hour-filled trip.
Milton Forney, owner of the old Young property on South Market Street, plans to use the store room for feed purposes and the second floor as his residence. Robert Pilier occupies the building for restaurant purposes and expects a move to the Rich room at the corner of South Market and th.
A bright young man calling himself T. M. Faddis and a young woman named mies ee magick from Canton sought a license in probate court on a Saturday. Deputy Henry Jacot began the process but the woman admitted she resided in Canton, so the pair were told to obtain the license there. They left disappointed yet lighthearted, saying they would go home.
East Union township held a Bible institute across Applecreek churches on Saturday. Attendance was lower due to a funeral but Mrs. R J Smith of Wooster led primary classes and urged blackboards, pictures, and storytelling to aid teaching. Rev Ed I Wood and Rev D H Johnston spoke on teaching methods and Bible study, and a Union Teacher Training class was proposed. East Union is praised as the first Wayne County township to host such an event and urged others to follow suit.
Mrs Nettie Whitmore wife of Samuel Whitmore of Canaan township was found dead in bed Saturday night. Death from carbolic acid. cause may be suicide or accident. She aged about 60, survived by husband two sons and two daughters. Daughter of John Keeney and sister of Mrs Dr Irwin of Creston. Funeral held Tuesday.
Second Anniversary Sunday marked the end of two years with Rev. Henry D. Allen as pastor of the First Baptist church in Wooster. His morning sermon titled The Purposes in Calling a Pastor drew strong interest from the congregation and community.
After initial plans for a masculine only celebration following the Wooster Care game, faculty committee decided on Monday to allow women to attend the Case game banquet. The event aims for a large turnout of alumni and friends, with tickets for general admission. George J. Schwartz oversees the banquet.

Oct 22 notes Amoela Werrick back from Toledo where she cared for sister Mrs Wagner who is reported better. School begins with J A Branffer as principal and Milas Vera Sidle as primary teacher. Locals Jane and Beatrice Jarvis from Barberton with Mrs Curtie Ryland and Edna from Reedsburg visited. Edna Swartz of Wooster spent Sunday with her parents. Farmers report seeding done and potatoes dug. Mrs Isa Shrode and children of Foster are guests of her parents. Harve Folk and wife returned home after visiting Chippewa Lake and Cleveland.
A group of Pennsylvania lines officials traversed Wooster between 10 and 1 a.m. Monday as four trains moved through with one and two open cars, a dining car, and sleeping cars. The passage marked the start of the inspection process for Stoets on the arrival font.
Clerks at the Wooster post office are busy and the job is not a easy “snap.” An actual count shows a very large weekly mail volume, with bundles counted as single pieces even when carrying many newspapers. The totals suggest thousands to tens of thousands of pieces weekly across county towns.

Berlin reports Secretary Taft planned a world tour stop in Berlin arriving November 29. Emperor William desires to meet him but the foreign office says the Kaiser will be unable to receive Taft on that date, delaying Taft’s Berlin stop until the emperor reaches the capital.
San Francisco dispatch reports the British steamer Queen Christine, outbound from San Francisco to Portland on Oct. 19, grounded on North Seal rock near Crescent City. Herbold reportedly half full of water, vessel in dangerous position. No lives believed lost. Several lifeboats landed at Crescent City and the sgn has moved toward the wreck site.
Washington obituary notes the death of David A Chambers private secretary to Senator John Sherman of Ohio after a long illness. Born in Zanesville he was a Morattetta College graduate and spent many years practicing law in Washington.

Between late Saturday night and Sunday morning, a chewing gum vending machine fastened to the front of R. L. Morrison barber shop was torn away. The box is believed to hold several dollars in pennies and gum. The machine belonged to a young African who attends the university.
Tickets for the university concert course are on sale at Proctor ds O'Hail's. Seat reservations will occur Thursday morning this week October 24. The course promises to be the best ever given in Wooster.
Creston Indy reports Mrs. Wa Woodward aged between 40 and 45 died Sunday night after a long illness. Funeral details are yet to be announced.
