Near Death for John Weiser in Pittsburg Avenue Home
John Weiser a teacher in the 901 block of Hon A Weiser and wife on Pittsburg Avenue were nearly dead Saturday afternoon after gas escape from a turned down damper in the bath room. Mrs Weiser heard him fall and later moaning and called for help. Dr. Kinney arrived, revived him, gave stimulants, and by evening he was out of danger though still sick. He resumed teaching Monday morning.

Born May 5 1828 in Scotland he came to America with a long journey via New York Albany Ohio and Massillon. He married Jane Margaret Morrow and left a son and four daughters among his survivors. Funeral arrangements will be in Wayne township with burial at the local cemetery.

Creston 17 year old Winfield Steele son of John Steele died after being crushed by a freight train on the Erie line near the depot. He and fellow youths were riding the trains when he was thrown under the wheels. Amputation of both legs was required and he died shortly after 10 p m.
