The Wooster Building and Loan board filled vacancies at a Monday meeting in the city. C. M. Gray was elected president unanimously, replacing the late Mr Cooley. J. W. Blocher became vice president to fill the director vacancy. Colleagues expressed regret at Mr Cooley’s death and praised his service.
The April term jurors heard the case John M. Everly vs Cyclone Drilling Machina Co. The plaintiff seeks $500 damages claiming she sold a batch of check dampers stored with the defendants who allegedly sold the items for old iron. Mahlon Rouch represents the plaintiff. George W. Waygandt represents the defendant.
Mrs. Will Barnard of Wooster visited over Sunday in Dalton. Howard Feasel of Columbus spent Monday with relatives. Rev. W. S. Hubbell attended a United Presbyterian seminary board meeting in Allegheny. Anonymous letters threaten calamity unless a daily prayer is said. The high school baccalaureate is to be preached by Rev. Hubbell and J Knox Montgomery of Muskingum college will give the commencement address. The 1st Regiment choir gave a concert last night amid a large street crowd in cool weather. Prof. W. H. Cully and wife from Cleveland visited relatives here.
A partial list of paid bills shows expenditures for repairs and supplies including electric lighting, cartage, coal, jail repairs, street sweeping, coroner inquests, printing, and insurance. Notable items include DeWitt refunder of tages Electric lighting for buildings at 49,200 dollars and Otto Tinall burial costs for indigent soldier at 50 dollars.
May 15 Smithville notes a mild start to summer with Apache garden use and visitors including Dr Judd and family. Local farming moves include new greenhouses being erected by M S Yoder and Hartzler supplying plants. Memorial Day arrangements are led by Davidson post with services at Bethel and Normal hall, featuring Rev Hunters and a cornet band procession to cemeteries. The Christian Endeavor convention, church events, and school commencements are also listed along with numerous town visits and family notices.
D L Thompson will be the new superintendent in Wooster. He arrived Saturday to meet residents and inspect the field. He attended the Wooster versus Massillon baseball game at the high school grounds and cheered for Wooster before noting changes. He plans to arrive in time to prepare for the fall school openings.
Harvey Brewer and wife of Pittsburgh came to attend the funeral of Mrs. Catherine Herper. On the way they aided the wife of a brother of Mrs. Brewer to a hospital in the Smoky City, then caught a train to Wooster. A telegram upon departure announced the death of the lady. The couple returned home to assist with the funeral arrangements before boarding a train to Wooster Friday.
Relatives reported Charlee Lad Johnson aged 10 of Wooster died in Pittsburg Pennsylvania. James Johnson a brother died recently at Mansillon. Funeral for Mrs Hridgat Thereasa Roberts and services led by Rev F Ankly. Enos Johnson born Wayne county March 26 1625 died May 9 1907 at 53 years 1 month 13 days. Survived by wife one daughter Mary Eliza one brother one grandson four great grandchildren and other relatives. He lived on a farm and was a Presbyterian in Applecreek.
May 15 The Overton correspondent reports Jim avoided the chasm danger and stayed home four weeks with pneumonia heart and liver trouble. Dr BE Cram attended graduation in Columbus. Harrisville road case awaiting circuit court decision. Dorcas society held an old fashioned spelling school at Methodist church. 10 cents for receptiveze. Lillian Horn to leave Lodi for Montana to join Roy Horn. Anacondo Montana mentioned.
May 15 residents J. Ebert and wife of Lat tasburg called on Chas Fahr. Young people attended Borwell examination in Woos ter. Mrs H J Eberhart visited Blackleyville. Mrs Shardell returned to Cleveland. Mrs Solomon Premer returned from Woolster Saturday. Ohio Piper and family of Ashland visited Elizabeth Piper. William McKee and family of Blackleyville spent the Sabbath with J Eberhart’s family. Filestee Bros note will exhibit here Friday. Kaufman & Son of Reedsburg put a few roofs on houses.
Fredericksburg notes list Josephine Saaw from Wooster staying with sister Mrs. Redett for a few days. Mary last week visited after six weeks with friends in town. Sarvey Redett and Miss Alta Holderbaum returned Friday from Jacksonville Florida where they visited. Miss Mary Barnes and Luella Barnes of Willefpear were at home with their mother over the weekend.

Henry Peece plans improvements to a volentine baggy to traverse muddy roads. Telephonic notice from Cadiz reports Harrison County grand jury indicted Nevelan on Tuesday for the non support of twin children. Nevelan was found in Crested, arrested Tuesday evening, brought to Wooster, and jailed awaiting arraignment before the Harrison County sheriff.
