In Christiana on March 10 a Swedish man described as insane fired a rifle dozen times at a castle, aiming to kill King Haakon. The king and queen were away from the city when the attack occurred. the assailant was arrested.
In Birmingham Alabama on March 10, Brown Bennett, son of a tobacco planter, was found dead in the road with a bullet wound in his head. Nearby lay two dead horses and a discharged rifle, suggesting a fatal encounter with a group identified as the riders.
Paducah March 10 reports a negro man probably fatally wounded and six whipped by night riders after they refused to leave Birmingham in Marshall county.
A wealthy woman donated 5090 to the educational endowment drive, with her name withheld. In recent days another liberal donor contributed 2590, and less than 80000 remains to reach the 125000 target to secure the Rockfelter fund.
