Ragged musings on politics and society in Ohio
A long, uneven column mix of commentary on a murder case involving Thomas Dre, political figures like Governor Harris and President and Mrs. Roosevelt era topics, and social notes. The piece veers through crime, governors wives, office seekers, railroad money, and European visits, with sharp asides about public life and national figures.
Watermelons, Hats, and the Fourth in Odd Times
The passage mixes playful esoteric phrases with brief notes on current topics. It mentions American hogs, King Haakon’s crown, a peek a boo shirt waist trend, a coal strike resolution, Georgia watermelons, Oyster Bay’s news influence, and cautions for a safe Fourth of July while warning against premature celebrations as the water question resurges.
