Delegates nominated Governor Nash of Franklin and Lieutenant Governor Nippert of Cincinnati by acclamation after fervent speeches. The platform praised Republican achievements, tariff policy, and veterans’ benefits, and backed Foraker and Hanna leaders while pledging support for Nash’s reelection and party unity across Ohio.

Special to The Republican Columbus June 25 reports nimetions at the state convention. Lawson Emerson of Belmont county wins the Clerk of the Supreme Court nomination after shifts and opposition aimed at Crew and Critchfield. Earlier James L. Price of Allen county was nominated for Judge of the Supreme Court. George Nash of Franklin is named governor with Carl Nippert of Hamilton as lieutenant governor by acclimation, amid strong convention enthusiasm and party unity.

Hon John Hay secretary of state travels from Washington to New Haven mourning the death of his eldest son Adelbert S Hay who fell from a third story window at the New Haven House and died instantly Adelbert, Yale graduate class of 1898, had recently served as U S consul at Pretoria and planned to join the president's staff upon arrival home The accident remains not fully explained with witnesses limited to the scene and close associates.
Bloodshed erupted at a mine as union and nonunion miners clashed over access. Guards blocked entry with armed personnel, shots fired by guards killed Boyd Martin and Riley Johnson while Sam Artrip was wounded. Union miners dispersed, vow revenge as tensions rise.
On June 26 at Monaca Pennsylvania train No 23 derailed after hitting an open switch, tipping two baggage cars two day coaches and a parlor car. Conductor Murray and fireman Cunningham among the dead. About 40 passengers injured including Mrs James Lee Mrs Lola Perkins Rev D Gavin and others. The flyer was bound for Cleveland with full coaches as panic and chaos followed the 25 foot embankment plunge.
Gustave A Behring, who claimed filiation to George M Pullman, was arrested in Frank O Lowdens office on charges of attempting to extort 2000 dollars and 10000 dollars a month for six months. Lowden's law partner Judge H D Davis drew a revolver to detain him until police arrived. Behring unarmed and says no harm meant.
William J Bryan was entertained in Norman F E Mack’s private office with no speeches. Prominent Democrats visited, including Mayor Diehl, Controller Coler, Judge Stern, Rep. W H Ryan, John McCarthy, and Herbert P Bissel. Bryan later departed for Watertown and stayed at Alt Nuremberg on the Pan American grounds. Car ferry Shenango seized at Port Stanley due to failure to report or clear.
Charleston W Va June 25. Reports from the flooded territory show contradictions with no definite loss estimates. Governor White and Adjutant General Baker, here, consider emergency troops if needed. Governor Nash of Ohio offered aid. White appeals for flood-sufferers and thanks Nash for the offer.
First Reports Scaled Down from Bluefields West Virginia on June 5 describe severe flood impacts near Ennis. The depot post office were washed away and miles of track wrecked blocking westbound service. Property losses range from 1 to 3 million dollars with 16 expected fatalities. Two thirds of coal field miners are homeless and no trains are expected in the region for several days.
Roanoke Virginia June 25 reports say up to sixty people may be missing after Saturdays flood with Keystone damaged beyond repair and rails cut. No reliable loss estimates yet. coal field news limited as wires are down and communication scarce.
