Murder at Wooster Civilian Prober Hicks Shot Dead
Prof John F Hicks assistant botanist at the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station was killed by a 33 calibre revolver shot in the left groin during a confrontation with a stranger on Monday morning. Hicks, who had been preparing to leave for Cleveland, grappled with the attacker after seeing a man loiter near his hosts home. The motive remains unclear, with Cleveland financial disputes mentioned as a possible lead. The investigation, post mortem, and bloodhound efforts yielded no arrest at this time.
