Wooster Orator Wins Third In State Contest
HL Dean of Wooster took third place at the State Oratorical contest held in Marietta. Hiram College captured first with Newcomb and second with Floyd Dennison. Marietta College was barred from the association after faculty disqualified Wallace for insufficient college work. The event drew teams from Hiram, Wooster, Mt Union, Buchtel, Wittenberg, and Dennison. A banquet followed and a business meeting elected new officers. the association faced an estimated loss of at least $800 due to Marietta’s actions, threatening its future membership.
