Battle Creek Michigan February 18. The Kellogg sanitarium was wiped out by fire this morning. About four hundred patients were removed safely with one woman injuring a leg by jumping. Loss estimated at 300000 dollars.

Special to Tar Berundiccan reports at New Maprip Missouri on February 17 a crowd of masked men overpowered the jailer and abducted Louis Wright a Black man. He died in a related incident. Wright was a member of the Richard and Pringles Black minstrel group and had an altercation with white town youths during which he struck one.
Miss Annie M Schmuch daughter of the late Samuel Schmuch died at 7 a m Tuesday in the city area after illness. Funeral from the residence at 10 a m with interment to follow.

Rev Charley McClelland MacHatton named secretary treasurer. Rev Scovel appeals for funds as alcoves fill. H Q Frick offers to build a new library wing after current expansion.

Mrs. E. D. Whitmore, a longtime Wooster resident and Methodist Church member, died Tuesday afternoon at her South Wala street home after a several weeks illness from catarrhal pneumonia. Funeral is private at 2 p.m. Friday from the house. interment will be in Wooster cemetery. She was born near Chambersburg, Pa., and is survived by a son and four daughters.

The funeral is at 2 pm Tuesday from his home with interment at Wooster cemetery. James Kearns, 36, of two miles northeast of Wooster, died Saturday after months of liver and kidney illness. He was born in Wooster, survived by wife and two children, with funeral from St Marys Catholic church and burial in Catholic cemetery.
The third and last entertainment in the City Opera House was by the University Junior class on Tuesday night. A fair audience enjoyed a lively program with singing solos choruses and acting pieces. The crowd applauded warmly, and most left satisfied though a few took programs without permission.
Miss Bennie March daughter of Rev FW Maret was injured when a sleigh collided with a horse on Liberty Street. Her left thigh was broken and she was carried home by cutter Phe. Drs J and H J Stoll treated her and she showed steady progress despite pain. Another incident near Wooster township resident Mrs Maize broke her left wrist after slipping on the pavement in the city. Dr K Warren attended.
