Public figures and events mix in a sprawling 1900s column
A broad miscellany discusses civic booster efforts for Wooster and Newark encampments, Holland Venezuela tension, Knox’s legal career, Castro’s rifles talk, a New York plumber elopement, airship bombardment ideas, Taft Knox ties, vice presidential pay talk, cold storage eggs dating, yeggmen in Nebraska, Boss Ruef sentencing, holiday behavior, Panamacanal chatter, and a Ohio senatorial race ending after vote counts.
Cash invested from Pocock plant funds for factory use
The Pocock glass plant money arrived Tuesday and was invested that day in good paying municipal bonds. All legal costs were paid, about 16000 dollars invested, placing funds with the board of trade. Lawyers say subscribers did not have a contract to get refunds, and board plans to retain funds if possible. Some anticipate suits, but few subscribers want the money returned.
