Subscriptions Contested Over Glass Works Fund in Wooster

The Wooster fund donors split over recovery of money after a suit by the Board of Trade sought to reclaim cash used to secure the Glass Works. Several large donors oppose the Board’s use of funds and plan potential lawsuits to reclaim their money, while others argue the money was not contractually repayable. Lawyers debate whether non signers can recover contributions, as the fund aimed to obtain the factory without a repayment clause to donors. The issue affects civic plans to improve Wooster and donors risk social backlash if they sue.
