A mighty flood of unprecedented snow and rainfall drenches watersheds feeding the Ohio River system. The resulting deluge causes the greatest flood of the season on record, with deaths reported along affected streams and tributaries.
Ohio river rise continues in Cincinnati and Huntington as backwater floods Mill Creek and Little Miami valleys. City fronts, racetracks, and parks may flood with 53 to 58 feet. Reports describe towns from Catlettsburg to Wheeling suffering, with dozens of homes evacuated and substantial property damage across multiple states.
News wires report an anarchist aboard the German steamer Halle arriving at Vigo with links to a plot against European sovereigns formed in Rosario Argentina and Paterson New Jersey. The man refused land. German police await Halle’s Brenten arrival to seize him.
