Wooster joins Norwalk and Mansfield in pursuing a major new plant for a Method book company. Rev. V. DuBois travels to Cleveland to promote Wooster’s bid, while towns weigh tax rates water supply and proximity to an East West trunk line. Delegations are expected at Buffalo next week as competition intensifies.
Charles W. McGlennen, named in indictments for embezzlement, is reportedly free after settling claims with the Cleveland Surety Co. He left Minnesota while facing charges but was not arrested and plans to return to the county. The file indicates he cooperated with the insurer and that money troubles prompted his flight.
Thomas Roberts in this city received a letter from Patrick Roberts in New Berlin dated April 15 1906 suggesting Martin Drennan may have been robbed or murdered. The note mentions pictures pension papers and clothing found in a box car at Valley depot and asks for information on whether Drennan is living or dead prompting family investigations at James Drennan and Frances Porter households.
David C Cook of East Union township died Thursday April 12 1906 aged 78 years 9 months and 7 days He farmed most his life threshing for twenty eight years and was active in church and community Survived by three sons Robert Wm Cook and Howard and two daughters Mrs Laura Jenings and Mrs Ida Badger along with three sisters and two brothers Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon with interment at Dalton Ohio

The Methodist Book Concern seeks a 2000 worker crew location, while W D Foss proposes a new Wooster 4 Works plant at South Buck Street and asks the city to build a sewage outlet in exchange for opening alleys. A committee will assist Foss in the move.
An active drive to pave College avenue from Bowman street to the University gains momentum as residents sign a petition. University officials back the project and will share assessment costs. Disputes arise over preferred width. six feet may suffice. The street is severed and ready if the residents approve. A prominent onlooker on Tuesday voiced belief the measure will pass.
T. B. Thompson, recently named postmaster at Mt. Eaton, submitted his resignation. He cited the duties as too confining for his taste, noting his preference for outdoor work.
Three years after the Wooster High School established a commercial department, twenty students study Shorthand and Typewriting, sixteen in Commercial Geography, and thirty two in Algebra and Commercial Arithmetic. Spring term tests involve thorough practice in correspondence. students gain stenography experience at the Superintendent's office. Commercial students take the same English, History, and Mathematics as those pursuing University Scientific Technical courses, graduating with comparable effort.
In Lattasburg on April 17 residents describe busy farming and mechanical work, with many townsfolk away. Guests visit families including Thorley and Smith, while jeeps and entertainments appear.
