Chicago April 11 Dowie arrived at the editorium hotel at 0 o clock and was met by a deputy sheriff seeking papers. He and his attendants say enemies at Zion City have set a trap and threaten bodily harm. Dowie plans to secure legal documents and return to Zion City to take possession.
Washington special reports Congressman Smyser offered an amendment to the post office appropriation bill raising real free delivery service funding to 89 400 000 from 3 200 000 a rise of 4 200 000. The pay for carriers would be about 120 a year. Smyser’s forceful speech drew applause on the House floor as he sought relief for rural carriers and farmers who rely on mail service. Representative Singser backed the measure, praising Smyser’s committee work on federal laws.
