Woodbridge Merchants Hold Final Dinner Meeting
About sixty five businessmen and guests attended the Woodbridge Merchants Association final dinner at the Astor Pastry annex on Main Street. The event featured awards to high school students, a drive for library funds, and donations from the group to the Garton Public Library. Mayor William Egan delivered greetings and praised the association for its community support.

Professor John Love Receives Rutgers Education Degree
Professor John Love of Woodbridge Township schools received the Master of Education at Rutgers University in a ceremony at the Rutgers gym yesterday. Two residents, Genevieve D. Coughlin and Helen M. Pfeiffer, earned Bachelor of Science in Education. About 238 graduates, many teachers in New Jersey public schools, were honored in a two year program ending studies for the degree. Professor Love has written an educational history of Woodbridge Township and will publish an additional work after completing the school system chronology.

Herbert C. Ward of Jersey City suffered possible internal injuries after a collision on the superhighway with a machine driven by C. Pitts of Elizabeth. Ward, a passenger in a car driven by his brother Frank A. Ward, remained hospitalized at Rahway Memorial Hospital.

The Junior Police Boys of Woodbridge Township plan a two night benefit at the State theatre on June 14 and 16. Proceeds cover outlay for their school traffic safety work. Four Year Old Drowns in Woodbridge Creek
A four year old, Johnny Smithers, son of Mr and Mrs Bert Smithers of 647 Lewis Street Woodbridge, drowned after slipping from a water pipe along Woodbridge Carteret road Sunday night. His body recovered about midnight after a search by officers fire company and neighbors. Coroner Edward A Finn oversaw the death, with funeral at Rosehill Linden. The boy left home with his brother Bert Jr. no coupons required for a local contest sponsored by Garden State Stores offering prizes to four winners. entries accepted at Harry Bernstein or William Berko.

Township Committee Seeks Tax Payments to Meet School and Bond Obligations

Rahway Officer Kills Woman Then Takes Life at Station
At 9:30 a.m. in Rahway Penn Station on the second floor Patrolman William E Christian shot Wanda Koczinski of 160 East Grand Street Rahway and then killed himself. Mrs Koczinski died instantly from a heart shot while Christian died at 11:45 a.m. at Rahway Memorial Hospital. Christian had been on sick leave since December after an operation and was described by friends as exceedingly nervous.
