Rescue off Winthrop in fog saves sixteen at sea
In thick fog near Winthrop two launches were rescued. Herbert Ridgway and Patrolman McDonald led a towed rescue from Cot tage Hill to Point Shirley Yacht Club, freeing ten men from a disabled launch on Faun Bar. Later, William Getty, Albert Long and Allie Hall retrieved six men aboard the Reta near the Dolphin after a perilous low-gear chase and brought them ashore.

Spanish War Veterans Meet Honors Paul Weinert Medal of Honor
At a Spanish War Veteran Association meeting last Thursday evening Paul H. Weinert of Dorchester received a Congressional Medal of Honor for gallantry at Wounded Knee Creek on December 29, 1890. Past and current officers shared experiences as a committee was formed to organize Maine Memorial Services. A whist party was announced for War Veterans Hall on November 10 and the next regular meeting is set for October 29.
