Death of Ervine D. Osborne Principal Succumbs After Fall
Ervine D. Osborne, Winthrop High School principal, died after a apple tree accident in his yard. He fell 24 feet from a breaking limb onto a concrete driveway fracturing the skull base. Boston specialists could not save him. his funeral at the First Methodist Episcopal Church drew a large crowd. Osborne's life showed grit and service, including teaching to fund college and arriving in Winthrop in 1855 with his lifelong partner Linnie Andrews.
