Pleasant Park Yacht Club Hosts Smoke Talk in War Veterans Hall
The Pleasant Park Yacht Club in Winthrop held a smoke talk at War Veterans hall on a Wednesday evening. Organized by Messrs Ordway Ryans and Barlow, the event featured Mr Ch J Shaw as master of ceremonies and a program including piano solo, silk flags, marine glasses, male quartets, humorous stories and addresses by Dr K J Granger and Elmer E Dawson. The club, started about three months ago, now counts 285 members.

Funeral Services for Mary E Black at St John’s Winthrop
Funeral services for Mary E Black wife of Dr George A Black were held Sunday afternoon October at St John’s Episcopal church Winthrop Centre with Rev Charles Henry officiating. She died Friday after an operation at an out of town hospital. Remains were returned Saturday to the bereaved family and committal services followed at Winthrop cemetery with floral tributes. Undertaker Mr Bennison directed removal and arrangements.

The Winthrop Woman's club met in Social hall on Friday October seventh at 2 30 pm. President Mrs Helen F Gardner and officers received guests. The hall featured plants and flowers while Astrella's orchestra played a musicale. Refreshments were served and committee reports were heard attentively.
