Death of Mrs. Griffiths in Lynn hospital
Mrs. Griffiths wife of Thomas Griffiths died Monday at 1 a m in Union Hospital Lynn after days of treatment. She left six children, four daughters and two sons. Funeral services were Wednesday at St John’s Episcopal church in Winthrop with Rev Charles Henry An abundance of flowers attended the service. Interment followed in Winthrop cemetery. Undertakers Mr and Mrs Bennison of Winthrop Center directed removal and funeral arrangements.

Funeral for Thomas J. Lavery Held at St John’s Evangelist
The funeral for Thomas J. Lavery, longtime East Boston native, took place at St John’s Evangelist church with a solemn requiem Mass led by Rev. John H. Griffin. Interment followed at Mt. Benedict cemetery Roxbury. Lavery served as assistant engineer in the U S Navy with the West Gulf squadron under Admiral Farragut. He later worked as chief engineer of the East Boston ferry and served in the building department North End before retirement.

Park Commissioners Reach Land Settlement After Takings
The Winthrop Park Commissioners reach settlements with landowners after taking 77 parcels of marsh and flats last May. Elizabeth C. Peterson releases all claim for damages on two acres of marsh and about three acres of flats for a $1 524.60 award. Francis Byrne and others release two Main street lots between a brick house and Shirley station, totaling 10 000 square feet, with a $350 award paid.
