Harvest Benefits Boost West Farmers Amid High Wheat Prices

The harvest across the wheat raising states meets or exceeds average levels with high prices likely to bring strong returns to farmers. Wheat totals are around 40 million bushels this year, below last season's 60 million bushels drop but still favorable. Corn prospects look good in interior regions despite lower yields in some older settled areas, supported by profitable contract prices. Minor crops are strong in prairie states, contributing to an overall confident agricultural year and stable farmer economics. The piece cites Charles Moreau Harger's view in the American Review of Reviews.
