A crowded Winthrop town meeting adjourned to the high school as voters debated naming the Centre grammar school. Dr Waldo Boardman proposed General William F. Bartlett, while the School Committee favored Edward B Newton after a Women's Club petition and a controversial clash with Joseph E Davidson and Mr Benshimol.
