The Winthrop Woman's Club held its twelfth regular meeting with twelve months of productive work ahead. Toasts honored the president and club figures. April 19th was set for the annual gentlemen's night featuring La Rue Vredenburg, Gertrude E. Gifford, and the Mendelssohn Trio, with refreshments by the hospitality committee.

Sagamore Club Elects Officers in Winthrop Meeting
The Sagamore Club of Winthrop met on March 17 at Saga more Hall and elected officers: President Thomas H. Green, vice-president Arthur Waldo, secretary treasurer Willard H. Loring who also becomes baseball manager. A committee of Loring Green Burragher and Neilson will draft by-laws by April 15 1907. The first ball game is April 19 against the Highlanders of Winthrop Highlands.

No Metropolitan Council Battle in House Debate
In Boston the attempt to substitute a bill creating a metropolitan Boston council of mayors and boards of selectmen for an adverse committee report failed. Representatives Lothrop and Brigham opposed, arguing both lack of unity and risk of political machine. The substitution was defeated on a voice vote.
