Annual Mite Box Opening by Woman's Missionary Society
The Methodist Church auxiliary held its annual mite box opening in the church parlors on Thursday from 2 80 to 6 p.m. Mrs I O Hall Jr led the meeting as mite box secretary and district secretary for the society. New members were added, increasing the roll to sixty two, with remarks and readings by Miss Dorothea Smith Miss Annie McNaught and Mrs O E Johnson accompanied by musical interludes and poems.

First aid concert in aid of St John the Evangelist Church takes place at Wadsworth Hall Winthrop Centre on Monday evening March 18 directed by Mrs O M Kimball with a long list of soloists including Miss May Roach Miss Mary Maloney Miss Alice Fitzgerald and Miss Maizie Rourke among others The event features orchestra readings dances and vocal selections with stage management by Mr George Parsons and ushers listed.

Winchester High, on a string of victories, lost Saturday to Malden High on Malden’s court. Winthrop High earlier beat Maiden High 40 to 18 in Malden, sparking talk of a neutral floor clash. Selectmen Schedule Short-Term Overhaul of Town Staff
The new Board of Selectmen held its first meeting and made several discharges and appointments. J O Small was removed as dog officer. Sumner Floyd replaced by Charles R Bennison as cemetery superintendent. T J Mahaney appointed street superintendent. Samuel C L Haskell removed as harbor master with Horace Golth waite taking the post. A later session ousted J O McIntosh and H Dwight Hall, replaced by Orra French and Charles W Hall respectively. J C Blake and Orra French received permanent appointments, A W Richardson named sewer superintendent. Chief McNeil’s removal discussed but deferred.

Fred Dube Discharged in East Boston Court
In East Boston district court on a Wednesday morning Fred Dube a Fort Banks soldier charged with assault and battery on Charles E March was discharged. March testified of a train ride on the previous Thursday and possible theft of $889 though liquor may have clouded his memory. Dube admitted riding with March and parting at Winthrop Street while company members said the time was too brief for an offense to have occurred.
