The town election opened at 6 a.m. and closed at 6 p.m. with 1 878 ballots cast. Contests for selectman and school committee dominated, listing candidates Walter B Thayer and others with vote tallies across positions such as town auditor and assessor of taxes.
The town election produced a close result with a 24 vote margin triggering a recount Friday evening. Incumbents Winthrop Magee and James S. Carr returned by a substantial vote, Joseph A.
