Electric Light Committee Reports on Gas and Electric Plant
The town committee appointed by Moderator Tewksbury, so voted March 11, 1912, to study gas and electric contracts and municipal ownership, outlines public hearings held over six weeks and the June 20 meeting with actions set for June 27. It covers rates in Holyoke, Middleboro, Wakefield, Westfield, and Winthrop, and compares electrical rates across Massachusetts municipal plants, noting Winthrop’s 11 cent rate effective July 1, 1912, and implications of tax and population factors on pricing.
