Twenty five years ago Winters residents prepared Halloween frolics at Dale Victory Pumphrey and Wingate schools. The Winters High School girls planned a December play to benefit the band. Good Will Trippers from San Antonio arrived with a calliope to entertain locals. The Lions Club promoted a roadside park and cotton ginning neared completion as 13162 bales by date with 1232 ginned that week. A hospital clock and Qualla seed planting by the Runnels County committee were noted.

Funeral Rites For Arnold L Williams Held Here Saturday
Funeral services for Arnold Lee Williams 37 were held Saturday at Spill Mem orial Chapel with Rev. Edgar H. Graham and Rev. R L James officiating. Interment followed at Lakeview Cemetery. Williams died Thursday night at Kerrville Veterans Hospital after years of illness. He was born in Winters on September 21 1925 and married Edith King in 1941. He served in the U S Army and was captured at the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. He later married Helen Steiner in Kerrville in 1962. Survivors include his wife, his mother and stepfather, a son James E Williams of San Angelo, two stepsons Billy and Johnny Steiner, and a sister Carroll Shott.

Robert A Lewis 80 a retired farmer formerly of Winters died after an eight month illness at his home in Sweetwater He was born January 26 1882 in Tarrant County married Mary C Bryant July 9 1907 in Winters farmed in Runnels County over 30 years and moved to Sweetwater in 1945 Funeral services were held October 19 at Fundamental Baptist Church Sweetwater with Rev Raymond W Dunn officiating Burial followed in Winters Cemetery Patterson Funeral Home in charge Survivors include his wife two daughters two brothers seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren
