In October 1942 Winters residents rallied to gather rayon silk and nylon hose for the War Department. Runnels County rationing board members Hinds and Johnson were named to oversee gasoline allocations. A Red Cross surgical dressings school was set, and rats were targeted in a county campaign. Blizzards beat Cross Plains 6 to 0 in football.

State Capital Highlights May Push Legislation on Kerr-Mills Plan
Texas doctors plan a campaign to obtain legislative approval for a constitutional amendment to bring Texas under the Kerr-Mills program. SCHOOL LAND LEASES State school land leases boosted the permanent school fund to $500 000 000.
