The Winters Blizzards closed the 1973 football season with a 53-6 loss at Stamford. Stamford's Don Earl scored four touchdowns including a 37 yard run and two point attempts failed at several points. Winters scored late on an 80 yard kickoff return by Johnny Ray Liggins, with Stamford replying on a 13 yard TD pass.

In the Runnels Soil and Water Conservation District the aim is to restore or maintain maximum high quality forage per acre to support sustainable animal production. Jerry Merz of the Soil Conservation Service recommends balanced use of key plants and planned rest periods as the most effective cost wise approach. Follow rules include leaving half the forage, balancing stock with available forage, flexible stocking, regular rest periods, and monitoring key plants with adjustments as needed.
