Local column lists hospital illnesses upcoming visits and social events. Members attend funerals, host gatherings at Ballinger and nearby towns, with many families visiting at Lone Creek Lake and Hord Creek. Multiple residents travel to San Angelo Ballinger and Hamlin for events and medical care.
The Dale Sewing Club met at the home of Mrs August Stoecker. Quilt blocks were pieced. Members present included Leland Hoppe, Bill Mayo, Walter Kruse, Verge Fisher, Ralph McWilliams, Quincy Traylor, Raymond Knight, Clarence Hambright, Clifford Lehman, Jack Whittenberg, Carroll Stoecker, Norbert Ueckert, I W Rodgers, August Stoecker, Reese Jones, and Emma Henniger.
The Winters Senior Citizens gathered Friday in the Humble Building with musicians Sam Doty H T Montgomery Clarence Hill Bill Wilson Adgie J Hodges and Mr and Mrs Jack Poindexter. Attendees included Ethel Hill Olga Minzenmayer Martha Sellers Claudia Pounders Edith Drake Ida Bates Dama M Lohman Ann Grenwelge Beth Doty Lucy Melendez Cora Beard Adam Hennecke J Ira Jones and couples Frank Bates Van Pennington of Canyon and Bedford Pennington of Amarillo.
The First Baptist Church Martha Sunday School class met Thursday at the home of Mrs. Pearl Jackson for a Thanksgiving luncheon. Members answered roll call with Bible verses. Present were Mrs. Wallie Brannon, Pearl Jackson, Billie Burton, Parrie Carwile, Eula Cook, Alice Compton, Margaret Gideon, Emma Marks, Thelma Mayo, Clara McAdams, Charlie Poe, Lady Rodgers, Vada Smith, Alma Witkowski, and Miss Eunice Polk.
We thank friends for cards visits flowers and prayers during hospitalization. Special thanks to the nurses and Dr Rives for their good care from Herman Browne.
Rube Kiser of Winters, 68, died Saturday in San Angelo after a long illness. Funeral service Tuesday at 2 p m in Spill Memorial Chapel with Rev. Red Worley officiating. Burial in Lakeview Cemetery under Spill Funeral Home. Survivors include wife Ruth Tunnell, three sons Mark, Leon, Eldon. four daughters Jackie Raborn, Dorothy Brown, Reba Hord, Mary Jane Blackshear. and many relatives. He had lived in Winters since 1940 and was a farmer, mechanic and city employee. He was a Baptist. Pallbearers listed.
