Christmas Visits Tie Wingate Families Across State Lines

Holiday gatherings spread through Wingate and nearby towns as families from San Marcos, Lubbock, Abilene, Midland, Waco, San Angelo and Dallas areas traveled to share Christmas. Notable notes include Adda Doggett's passing and burial in Lampasas, as well as Rickey Dean’s medical transfer to Houston and Mrs. Walker Allen’s Bronte Hospital stay.

Longtime Winters Barber Joe Baker Dies at 71

Joe Baker 71 died December 20 at North Runnels Hospital after a two week illness. He owned Baker Barber Shop in Winters before selling in 1962 and continued barbering for shut ins. Survived by wife Ruby, two sons Dewey and Charles, daughter Noel Wiley, siblings and extended family. services held at First Baptist Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Christmas Dinner At Methodist Church Reported

A Christmas dinner with members and guests was held at the Methodist Church Tuesday night of last week. A Christmas tree and gift exchange occurred. Mr. and Mrs. N W Bagwell learned that his brother in law in Abilene was injured in a ladder fall and underwent knee and leg surgery last week. Julie Carol Wheat of Winters visited her grandmother Mrs Lena Wheat Friday afternoon.
