Winter merchants offer late hours and Christmas bargains to draw shoppers. Some stores stay open beyond normal times with incentives and free parking as December 20 to 25 approach. Ghost lore noted may influence shopping hours. meters are covered downtown for convenience.
Texas Winters residents gather for a community dance at the high school gym. Local organizers report a modest turnout, with dances and refreshments throughout the evening.
Mrs. Annie H. Munger 86 died Wednesday morning at Merrill Nursing Home Winters. Funeral held Saturday at 2 p m in First Methodist Church Santa Anna with Rev. Lewis Shambeck officiating. Burial Santa Anna Cemetery. Survived by son D A Munger Jr of Silver City NM nine grandchildren 19 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Christmas morning services will be held at St John’s Lutheran Church on Saturday December 25. The special service starts at 10 40 a m with Rev Walter C Probst Sr pastor delivering the message. Regular Sunday service hours will be observed December 26.
