In WeWoka Oklahoma a well tied to the Deeprock Oil No 4 Davis erupted in flames shortly after drilling. Gas flow neared 30 million cubic feet with a heavy oil spray. The blaze prompted evacuation of part of a nearby residential area as multiple wells lie nearby and fear spread across the South Wewoka field.
Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh and Mrs. Lindbergh escaped a fire aboard their plane at Logan Field as fuel ignited on an exhaust pipe. Lindbergh used a hand extinguisher to douse the flames. the craft was to be checked and ready for a flight about an hour later. The aviators, staying with Dr. William H. Wilmer at Johns Hopkins, had arrived from Washington after visiting Goucher College.
Felipa Contreras who told a census taker she was over 140 years old died today in Magalles Chile. Relatives say she was the world’s oldest woman, though her age had been questioned.

PHOENIX December 19 AP A dispute over the killing of a rancher s horse on government land in Navajo County drew attention. Forest Ranger Slosser was tried for slaying the animal and was fined 100 dollars on conviction. An associate ranger William Porter was beaten while en route to court for a similar charge and was said to be in non serious condition. Slosser appealed and was released on 300 dollars bond. Forest rangers may dispose of unclaimed livestock grazing on government reservations after a specified period.
Mexico City reports the senate approved amendments to agrarian laws increasing guarantees to foreign capital. The measures, already passed by the chamber of deputies, await President Ortiz Rubio's signature to become law.
Claire Fahy Los Angeles aviatrix died in Tonopah after a plane crash Monday injuries fatal. She stalled during takeoff from about 50 feet altitude causing a nose dive. The body to be transported to Los Angeles by airplane.

London Dec 1 AP Britain’s railway wage dispute stalled as the central wage board adjourned today. It was expected to be carried to the national wages board next month for resolution.
Paris readers report Theodore Steeg's leftist ministry won a rain of support in the chamber of deputies by 291 to 284 after a late caucus for the socialists. Opposition warned they would move against the government after holidays as deputies admitted ballot irregularities.
Judge John H. Lyle said Capone should face the electric chair for the 1920 killings of "Big Jim" Colosimo and another man. He spoke before the Chicago Safety Council, noting a vagary warrant had been issued months ago.

Raymond Gunn, a 30 year old ex convict, confessed to slaying 19 year old Velma Colter, a rural school teacher, after hours of questioning by county authorities. Gunn was arrested while hunting and rushed to St. Joseph to avert mob violence.
An unidentified robber was captured during a brief gun battle with two men and officers during an attempted oil company office holdup in Mesa. One suspect fled over a fence into a field. the car bore Oklahoma plates and papers found in it pointed to Oklahoma City origins.
A masked robber and a well dressed woman accomplice held up a ticket seller at the Chicago Opera building last night escaping with $200. The message left behind was directed to Samuel Insull, head of utilities firms, stating the robber has his dividends.
The Colorado River Commission is drafting its annual report for Governor Phillips. The group met in the governor's office to discuss the document. The bill creating the present commission was enacted by the ninth legislature and will become void after February 1, 1951.

The defense moved for acquittal but the judge denied. Final arguments were planned with three hours for each side before the jury deliberates.
Merapi in central Java erupted violently after eight decades of dormancy, lava surged down the slopes and killed fifteen to ninety natives at work in fields near the base. The blast covered nearby farms with lava, ash, and stones, devastating a wide area as smoke and fire flashed from the crater.
Rank officials said the University of Alabama football squad will land in Phoenix Sunday night for a two and a half hour layover before traveling to the Grand Canyon. Former Alabamans and alumni plan a welcome for the team ahead of the New Year’s Day game with Washington State.
Spokane report says Henry G. Anderson a 53 year old pharmacist was shot by two young men who fled after entering the home during a card game. Mrs Anderson testified the intruders asked for her husband and fired as he sat at a table, then escaped.
