In a fogbound collision near Laso Island the Finnish liner Oberon sank after hitting the Arcturus. Forty five aboard Oberon are believed lost. Arcturus rescued 36 with many injured. Captains of both ships were brothers Eris Velt and Ossi Hjelt.
