The Star publishes the Democratic primary candidate list for Frederick County races. State Senator contenders are Robert M. Ward and F. S. Tavenner. County Treasurer contenders S. M. Chiles and A. L. Rutherford. Sheriff contenders C. H. Purcell and Luther Pannett. Back Creek District Supervisor contenders B. N. Lockhart and J. T. McKnee. Gerinesboro District Supervisor contenders H. P. Whitacre and A. R. Rinker. Names with no opposition were previously announced.
William Gibbens Funeral Rites Held at North Main
The funeral for C. William Gibbens, who died Sunday morning, was held at 4 pm from his father's North Main street residence. Rev. Dr. Lewis G. M. Miller officiated with a simple service, a choir performed, and pallbearers J. W. Sumption J. I. Brown J. A. Kern W. B. Wagner B. F. Potts and C. Stouffer assisted at Mount Hebron Cemetery amid many floral tributes.
Band to Hold Lawn Party for Music Fund
A lawn festival is planned to raise funds for new music and supplies for the Friendship Cornet Ballad. A group of ladies has been enlisted to organize the event and will meet this evening at Mrs. George Grim's home at 11 South Kent Street to discuss details.

Power from river plant begins daily supply in Winchester
The bis Power plant of the Winchester and Washington Electric Railway Company at Millville-on-the-Shenandoah started transmitting current to the city’s wires this morning. Major Conrad Wins In Supreme Court
Maj Holmes Conrad’s friends celebrate the Supreme Court ruling over a Virginia West Virginia debt dispute. Virginia seeks to force WV to assume one third of Virginia’s pre split debt, totaling about 17 million dollars. The court overruled a WV demurrer and upheld jurisdiction for Virginia’s suit. Virginia contends WV should pay its equitable share from the 1830s to 1841s improvements and Tidewater connection.
Child bitten by deadly rattlesnake loses arm at shoulder
Middletown May 28 Special to The Star. Harold Brumback two year old son of J V Brumback formerly of Middletown was bitten by a rattler in Fort Supply Oklahoma. After his hand and arm swelled and gangrene threat grew doctors ordered amputation at the shoulder. The child was transported to Bethany Hospital in Kansas City where the operation was performed. He remains in hospital but is expected to recover. Brumback is the son of the late W H Brumback of Middletown.

McAboy a Frederick county man died at 5 20 this morning at the home of Charles B Clevenger near Jordans Springs after paralysis age 64 He had lived at the Clevenger farm and was attending horses at J T Bradshaw s farm Summit Point when stricken Funeral will be held Wednesday 10 morning and burial in the county He leaves two sons William A McAboy and J D McAboy His wife Miss Shipe Mollie Stickel widow of Edward Stickel died at Wardensville W Va at age 41 after a cancer battle Her remains to be brought to Winchester for burial at Mount Hebron Wednesday morning Reverend C L Potter to conduct services at 9 at the Mortuary Chapel She leaves five children Harold Ralph Eva John Thelma sister Mrs A R Heltzel Wardensville and brothers William and John Barney.”
Fort Loudon Seminary Commencement Begins With Recital
The Fort Loudoun Seminary audience filled the Auditorium for the first commencement recital. Tonight at 7 30 the final recital and diploma ceremony led by Rev Dr J Horace Lacy will conclude the exercises with diplomas awarded to a long list of graduates including Rebecca Baird Marion Roberts Susie Haines Hilda Correll Susie Faulkner Mary Robinson and many others.

Local Markets Amass Varied Produce Despite Chill
Markets today offered a wider spread of country produce and garden vegetables than Monday despite cold nights that slow crops. Demand for vegetables eggs butter and spring chickens was strong while prices held steady. Wheat corn rye and millfeed showed little change as prices were quoted steady across staples. Final examinations are now in progress at John Kerr Public Schools.
Virginia Classis Ends Meeting at Winchester Lovettsville Next Year
The sixty ninth annual Virginia Classis of the Potomac Synod of the Reformed Church concluded at Centenary Church Winchester after a productive session. The gathering approved reports on finances state of religion and statistics and announced Lovettsville Va for next year’s meeting starting June 4 1908. A long roster of statistics was read including 2785 communicants 2213 communed 99 infant baptisms and 47 adult baptisms 102 confirmations and benevolent giving totals. The classis extended thanks to Centenary Church and The Evening Star for hospitality and coverage and resolved to print and read the resolutions from the pulpits next Lord's Day.
Memorial Day Exercises at National Cemetery
Memorial exercises at the National Cemetery on May 30 will begin at 2 o'clock and be conducted by the Ladies' National Memorial Association and Mulligan Post G. A. R. of this city. The program for the occasion will be announced tomorrow.
