A blaze at Shug Evans livery stable between 7 and 8 pm destroyed hay and feed on the ground floor and required quick fire department action to prevent total loss. Several horses escaped. the $300 loss is partly insured through Gool & Company. Local crowd gathered as fire crews battled the flames near Evans' residence.
Hagerstown dominated Berryville in a lopsided game at Athletic Park yesterday afternoon. Berryville pitcher Robey allowed 20 hits while Gurlow worked four innings with three one two three frames. Patterson finished the five inning stretch for Hagerstown, who scored 15 runs as Berryville managed five in the seventh on five straight hits.
The marriage of Miss Evaline Tucker Bedinger of Anchorage Kentucky to Rev. Richard W Trapnell of Charles Town West Virginia was held in the evening at a Presbyterian church. The couple will reside in Bluefield where Trapnell has been called to the Episcopal Church.

In Stephens City on Wednesday 8 o'clock the home of J. W. Congill hosted the wedding of his daughter Agnes Corinne Cougill to James Milton Cadwallader a prosperous local farmer and machinist The ceremony in the parlor featured Rev BE A Stanton with Mrs Sarah Kline at the organ A real old Virginia supper followed with over forty guests and many generous gifts the couple plan to settle nearby and build a home in the vicinity The event drew a wide circle of relatives friends and neighbors from Stephens City and nearby areas.
The Winchester team beat the local Brownies 21 to 1 in a nine inning game at Broad Street Park on Wednesday afternoon. Bennett pitched well for the locals and kept the visitors' hits scattered. The game ended early to let the visitors catch their boat to Norfolk for a three game series. Crawford officiated and his calls drew ire from locals.
Rev Herbert Jeekes of the Theological Seminary near Alexandria Virginia will conduct the morning service at St Thomas Protestant Episcopal Church in Middletown Virginia on Sunday June 30 at 11 o'clock All are invited to attend this service.
Ira Henson, alias R C Morton, admits to passing a 9.75 check at the Crystal Cafe in Martinsburg and to earlier forging a G A Cook check at a Merchants and Farmers bank. He claims to act for another man and is held awaiting agreement on where trial will occur. George Henson, his brother, is jailed in Winchester as an accomplice.
Rev James R Graham Jr son of Rev Dr James R Graham will preach at Strasburg Baptist Church at 11 a m with Rev A G Link assisting Cedarcliff Church in Vaucluse at 3 p m and Cedar Creek Church at Marlboro at 3 p m after returning from missionary work in China.

Houston June 28. It is generally believed here that today’s arguments in the Lov ing-Estes murder trial favor Judge Loving and predict his acquittal. The prosecution has not made the expected impression and seeks to cast Miss Loving as expelled from school and to damage her character.
Winchester beat the Norfolk Collegians 7 to 2 yesterday afternoon at Norfolk in front of a large crowd. Pitcher Cantwell hurled a strong game for Winchester while Armstrong, formerly with Sandy’s, appeared for the Collegi ans. The series continues in Norfolk with three more games planned before the Catonsville nine arrive for three matches in Winchester.
Mr Edgar Langley has returned to his home in Brunawick Md to continue treatment for his head injury after being struck while working on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad yards at Strasburg Junction. Physicians hope for a quick recovery and his return to work as engineman on the Valley Division.
A. B. Clayden, advertising representative of The Evening Star in New York, arrived yesterday evening and will stay several days as guest of H. F. Byrd. He also represents the Martineburt Evening Journal and counts many large firms as customers. His office is in the Brunswick Building, New York City.
Former Winchester resident Granville P. Meade now of Fort Worth Texas and J. B. Collins also of Fort Worth visit Amherst street guest Miss Sherrard for several days. Both men are prominent in Fort Worth society.
A Gore Virginia man, Smith J Pugh aged 66, collapsed and died while cutting wood at his son Upton J Pugh’s home. The incident was witnessed by his six year old granddaughter Clara Pugh. Funeral services will be held at Upton Pugh's home, with interment in Bethel graveyard.
Miss Anne Douglas Williams issued many invitations for a driving party and supper this afternoon in honor of Miss Laure Nelson Dame daughter of Reverend and Mrs Nelson Page Dame of Osining New York who is Miss Williams guest. Guests traveled to a cottage on Northwestern Turnpike for rural amusements and a delicious supper. A large party chaired by Mr and Mrs Shirley Carter with Mrs William H Baker hosting a bridge whist at her Washington street home tonight, with many Winchester ladies in attendance.
Rev and Mrs H H Sherman married last week spend part of their honeymoon at the Jamestown Exposition. Mrs Sherman was Miss Ellen Holmes of Baltimore daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward A Holmes and cousin of Mrs H Clapton and Miss Charlotte Latham. They wed at St Pauls M E Church South and will reside in Roanoke Va where he serves as pastor.
Mr and Mrs EB V Weems and the Misses Weems are due from Washington next week to occupy their Fairmount avenue residence for the summer months.
Mrs Captain Lamar of Baltimore is spending several weeks at the home of Mr and Mrs Bennett Hill on South Braddock Street.
