Bold Negro Horse Thief Is Caught
City Sergeant J. W. Taylor arrested James Thomas on horse stealing charges and he is jailed awaiting a county magistrate hearing. Thomas allegedly stole Mr. Jacob E. Baker's family mare near town Monday night and fled toward West Virginia before being identified by Wardensville residents. Eight lines recovered from the tale detail questioning, alleged falsehoods, and the suspect’s prior employment with Baker.

County Native Dies in West
Isa S. Richards a pioneer Eastern Iowa resident who settled in Victor Iowa nearly fifty years ago and spent forty years in Western real estate died in Victor yesterday. His son M V Richards of Washington DC a general land and industrial agent for the Southern Railway and the Mobile and Ohio Railroad and six daughters in the West survive him. Richards was a native of Frederck county Virginia and has many relatives in this section.

Word arrived from Hagerstown Md that Jerry Snyder of Keedysville Md died this morning after a bout with an eye infection that led to blindness and relapse. He served as a Baltimore and Ohio Railroad postal clerk and led the United Brethren Church Young People’s Christian Union in this city. He leaves a widow and three children Virginia Eakle Grace Snyder and Herbert. Interment is Friday January 24 at 2 p m in Keedysville cemetery.

Former Presiding Elder George W. Cooper Dies Dying
Rev. George W. Cooper, aged 76, a former presiding elder and long time Methodist Episcopal Church minister, is critically ill at his Baltimore home from uremic poisoning. Born in Gettysburg, he joined the Baltimore Conference in 1848, led several city churches, once headed the Winchester district, and last served Mount Vernon Church Hampden until 1897 retirement.
