Disastrous Fires Strike Frederick County Homes
Two early morning fires in Frederick County caused extensive damage. A barn fire at Joseph W. Barton’s farm destroyed twelve tons each of hay and straw and damaged a hay baler. A second blaze at Relief in the Graves home forced the evacuation of the family including the elderly Mrs. Graves. the house and contents burned with estimated losses of 3500 dollars and 400 dollars in insurance. A forest fire near Berryville also drew attention in Winchester.

Valuable Mare Stolen From Stable Near Winchester
Star reports Mr. Jacob E. Baker offers a reward for the recovery of a seal brown driving mare stolen from his stable two miles west of Winchester. The 15 hand, 1000 pound animal had been in Baker’s possession for fifteen years. the stable door was found closed, indicating a nighttime entry.

Meat Stealer Is Sent Up
Henry Blair, colored, faced a preliminary hearing before Justice Crow in Berryville Virginia for breaking into C H Boxwell meat house weeks ago and stealing meat. J T Fisher of Winchester identified Blair and the accomplice John Wilson as buyers of the stolen meat. Blair was committed to jail to await the county grand jury. Mamie O Conner returned to Washington.
